John Abe Fast

March 9, 1933 - September 21, 2021

Tribute

John Abe Fast was born on March 9, 1933 in Hepburn, Saskatchewan and went to be with Jesus on September 21, 2021.  John married Patricia Ann Robertson on June 29, 1957 and they were blessed with six children while living in Richmond, B.C.

In 1985 John, Pat and family moved to Abbotsford where they lived for 35 years.

John is survived by his loving wife Pat to whom he was married for 64 years;  their children, Maggie (Randy) Fehr, Judy (Ken) Friesen, Bob (Melody) Fast, Jane (Stuart) Kyle, Mark and Diane, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother Ernie, sisters Hedy, Marlene (Henry), Evelyn (Andy), and Katherine (Jim) and many nieces and nephews.  John is preceded in death by his parents, Abram and Elsie Fast, brothers Corey and Ed, sister in law Marilyn, brothers in law Lyle and Earl and grandson Michael. He will always be remembered for his quiet but deep faith in his Lord, his willingness to help out family and friends, and his love of nature and the great outdoors. He will be greatly missed but we look forward to seeing him again one day.  We would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Menno Home for their compassionate care of Dad.  A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

My condolences to you, Pat and your whole family, with love

From: Tracy Stuart

Dear Pat
Mark and I ( Tracy) are sending our condolences to you and your family. We have lived on Nicomen Place for 38 years and have had you for our neighbours for almost that long. When our children were young they would ride their bikes, or walk to school and you two would be outside and chat with them. We would always see John walking and he always had a smile on his face. Diane babysat for us a couple of times as well. During this difficult time of grieving we send all our love and know that all your wonderful memories will keep you strong . John was a great man and our memories
will be with us forever. Take care and be safe. Sincerely Tracy and Mark Stuart

Relation: We lived in the neighborhood..

How swiftly flow the days!. I haven’t seen John for quite a number of years, but I fondly recall the day’s we have been out and about on our bikes and the fellowship we shared. Saddened to read of John’s passing, yet comforted in knowing he is now home with the Lord.

From: Harry and Jane Welsh
Relation: We were at Mountain Park church together.

Our love and condolences go out to you Pat and your lovely family. I (Jane) served coffee at Mountain Park and we were both always blessed by John’s smile and his constant joy. You are on our hearts. Love from Harry and Jane Welsh

Relation: Neighbours

To Pat and the family, We are so sorry for the loss of a wonderful man, father and husband. He set an example in our neighbourhood (and beyond) of grace, kindness and charm. Always a smile and a wave, even if he was looking the other way, as you drove by. And he single-handedly kept our woods immaculate as he took it upon himself to pick up any trash he found on his walks. Love and prayers to you all and so glad to know that he is singing with the choirs in heaven! Don and Lori Kowalchuk and kids.
